About Me
Hello,
I’m Jameson Parker. I’m 29 years old with a passion for music, technology, and entrepreneurship. While music has been a major part of most of my life, I’ve also explored other areas of interest that have helped to mold my ambitions. Where I once was only interested in just producing music for recording artists, I have developed new hobbies like sound design for video games and developing interactive audio applications. I’m excited about the positive things happening in the music industry and the audio industry as a whole. My goal is to have a positive impact on that growth.
“Dad, how in the world does the drummer play the drums so fast like that?” I asked while riding in the truck with my dad at about 13 years old. “Oh son, they use something called a Drum Machine for that,” my dad replied. “I want a drum machine!” I said with excitement! That year, for my birthday, I received a Zoom RhythmTrak RT-123. You can imagine my excitement as I maxed out the 2 drum tracks and 1 bass line track it allowed you to program. I had a blast learning about sequencing, pattern mode, and song mode. It was enough to capture my imagination. By that time I had already been taking private piano lessons for about 4 years and was just entering a Performing Arts School where I would study classical Piano Performance from 6th to 12th grade. It was over the course of this time that I developed as a musician, learned music theory, and began to compose and write my own sheet music for the first time. Today, I’m furthering my education in Recording Arts at Full Sail University and I learn more tools every day to equip me for a successful future as an audio professional. I’m currently gaining hands on experience as a sound designer with the on-campus Game Dev. Department. All the experience I can get helps me to accomplish one of my on–going goals which is to continue to grow as a mix engineer.
Max Levchin, the former CTO of Paypal said, “ The very first company I started failed with a great bang. The second one failed a little bit less, but still failed. The third one, you known, proper failed, but it was kind of okay. I recovered quickly. Number four almost didn’t fail. It still didn’t really feel great, but it did okay. Number Five way Paypal.”
I love going back to that quote because it’s another reminder to always keep pushing forward in life. I like to mix entrepreneurship with my passion because when I’m working on something creative it doesn’t really feel like work to me. I find my flow and enjoy what I do. We build upon both other people’s experiences and our own in life and I’m always happy to share mine with others in case it might ever help in any way. Helping others is always rewarding! I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for the awesome people who helped me develop along the way! Pay it forward!
